New Peltiers installed |

Today new Peltiers were installed and tested. Unfortunately, we had trouble reaching -20 C with this new set of Peltiers (they are of different type than the ones that were taken out). After better insulation ofthe sample compartment and lowering the chiller temperature from 11 to 6 C, the coldbox was able to reach close to -19.8 C after about half an hour
After lowering the chiller temperature to 5 C, the coldbox was able to reach -20 C
and hold it for about 1 hour when the test was stopped
The plan is to order a new set of Peltiers that are better suited for our use case and in the meantime we will use the newly installed ones with the chiller temperature set lower.
IMPORTANT: Pipes inside the coldbox were left uninsulated. For now this is OK because of the low relative humidity in winter months but could lead to condensation in warmer part of the year when the relative humidity increases. |
